With the aim of going beyond the recurrent image of the “Arab transition”, this initiative presented a specific analysis of the state of the art and the possible developments in the power balance of the Mediterranean region, concretely dealing with the policies adopted by governments affected by such phenomena on the socio-political, economic and institutional level.

3th conference for the cycle “Turkey Phenomenon”
The conference consisted in a comprehensive reflection on Turkey’s economy, society and foreign policy.
Although Turkey is still perceived in a fragmented way, the country is projected towards the conquest of its new role of regional and international power – hence its idea of focusing on the strengths of what can now be termed as an irreversible process. At the same time, Turkey’s contradictions and problems must not be overlooked.

In Milan more than 700 entrepreneurs and members of the Institutions, 15 Ministers and representatives of the economy and politics of the Northern and Southern shores of the Mediterranean.

2nd International Conference “Turkey Phenomenon”
The conference focused on the economic aspects of the country, and it was divided into two roundtables. In the first one, the relations between Turkey and Europe in terms of economic interdependence were discussed, also analysing the integration dynamics that had been developing on the ground – which are considerably deeper and at a far more advanced stag than the institutional ones.

A year after the Arab Spring, a complex transition process was underway in the region. An increasing number of difficulties emerged in those countries where the old power structures had displayed a certain degree of resilience and where the economy remained in dire straits.

1st International Conference “Turkey Phenomenon”
The conference consisted in a comprehensive reflection on Turkey’s economy, society and foreign policy.

Fifty exponents from the Middle East, Europe, the USA and Russia took part into the third major event organized by CIPMO before the Oslo Accords.

Following the Gulf War in 1991, CIPMO organized another major meeting in which the conflict that had just come to an end was the starting point for a broader reflection upon the issue of human rights and of overcoming the barrier of hatred that divides peoples at war.

This conference was the first of a series of three conferences marking the foundation of CIPMO and the start of its activities. More than sixty speakers from the Middle East, the USA, the Soviet Union and Europe took part in it.
